Parent Information Night: IB Middle Years Programme

Families of students in Grade 7 or Grade 8 in the Kamloops-Thompson School District are invited to attend an informational meeting for International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) at NorKam Secondary School.

The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is a globally recognized educational framework designed for students going into either Grade 8 or Grade 9 that fosters intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and personal development. Rooted in the IB’s commitment to holistic education, the MYP emphasizes interdisciplinary learning, real-world application, and international-mindedness. Students engage in a rigorous yet flexible curriculum across eight subject groups, developing strong academic skills while also nurturing creativity, communication, and social responsibility. With a focus on inquiry-based learning, service as action, and the development of key Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, the MYP prepares students for success in the IB Diploma Programme (DP) or other advanced academic pathways, while equipping them with the skills and mindset to thrive in an increasingly complex world.
